Senuti (read, you'll see what it is)

I was surfing the web the other day and I came across this really cool program called Senuti. It is a program that lets you hook up an ipod to your computer and then you can copy the songs to it withought having to rip a CD on your computer . I just thought that this was pretty cool. Sorry, Mac only.

A Weird Mishap

I witnessed something that was weird, but yet cool and frustrating at the same time. I was drinking a glass of coke and I set it down on the floor in my room near my bed. I was going to turn the TV and my XBox on. When I came back, I accidentally kicked the glass of coke, causing it to spill under my bed and the cup was halfway under my bed. There was ice and Coke on the floor under my bed. Now I had to go and get a towel and go under my bed to clean the coke up. Man that was hard lying on your stomach trying to clean up the spill. Now I know that I am one of the few people to spill a coke under their bed. I am probably the only one. I hope not.

Thanksgiving

I googled Thanksgiving yesterday,(since it is around the corner) and I found a bunch of god sites, but the one that think is the best is the Wikipedia which I will put a link to at the top and bottom. I thought that Thanksgiving was all about Turkey, but that is not what they had at thee first Thanksgiving meal, it was more like berries and whatever they can get in the woods.

You also have to consider that it was in New England and it was very cold there and no crops could grow, they were already harvested, so nothing was left.

Anyways, I will change the template for Thanksgiving today and the rest of the site will be thanksgiving themed.

Happy Thanksgiving

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving and that you have a safe trip if you are traveling. Of course, I will google Thanksgiving and put stuff up about the history of it tomorrow. I got the day off. Gotta go watch some TV.

Halloween Part 2 [gasp!!!]

ok, its a bit late :(, but bear with me.
im here to discuss the history behind halloween.
so, halloween was originally a driud holiday, the last day of the druid year.
they thought it was the day when dead guys came back, and so they dressed up to ward them off
so, soon this holiday spread to, I think, Norway, where they didnt want to dress up.
so they decided to carve turnips
then, when they got over here, they found it was much easier to carve pumpkins (go figure!)
so, now we dress up and carve pumpkins
as for the candy, I can't help you out, sorry.

Random Search of the Day... ...

I was looking up stuff on the internet and I came across something that had the highest paying keywords for Adsense. At the top of the list were keywords that had to do with Mesothelioma. Well, I saw this and I thought to myself what the hell is Mesothelioma? I wanted quick info so I used Worldbook 2006 Electronic Edition for this. Accoding to it, Mesothelioma is a lung disease that is caused by asbestos. Asbestos is commonly used for constructiuon purposes. Mesothelioma is rare and fatal. It infects the lining of the chest. You can get it easily just from a little exposure to asbestos. One problem is that like most diseases, scientists do not know why asbestos just so happens to cause disease.

The ads that were listed were for lawyers, I guess that the diesease is really rare and lawyers are neded to sue companies for poor work conditions. It is pretty hard to find a client, and 99% of the people who would go to the site would be really interested in a lawyer.

Well there you have it, you can learn something new each day.

It is well worth a visit or too as it is updated often. Also be sure to look at the 3d chalk drawings, they look so real. This blog is definately one of my favorites.

Fried Cars (literally)

Gas prices are high and there are a few alternatives. I heard about people tunning their car off of vegetable, and I wanted to see if that is real. I found a site for a company called Greasecar which makes the conversion systems. They are about one to two thousand dollars and they allow you to run your car off of diesel and vegetable oil. One of the downsides is that your car has to run off of diesel. Not too many people out there have a diesel.

Google Gadgets

I was loking at some of the oh somany things that googlehas to offer and one of them was google gadgets. It is kind of like widgets on Mac OSX. I found one there called google fight. Check it out.

just a thought

Well, the topic of the last post was recycling right? Well, I was looking at that pricing guide and I saw that the price for newspaper was like 30 to 35 cents per pound. Newspapers are like 50 cents right? A whole one almost weighs a pound, well mabye two. You could save a whole lot on your newspaper if you recycle it at a local center

Just an idea I thought was worth sharing.

Recycling

Have you ever looked at the back of a Coke bottle and saw that ME 5cents thing on the wrapper? Well, I was curious to see if you can really get 5 cents in states other than Maine. You do not but in other states you can get about ten to twelve cents a pound of bottles that you find or take to the recycling place. I am not sure if you can ship bottles to Maine and make money by doing that, but it seems like a recycling buisness has alot of potential depending on if you know what you are doing. Even if you need a little extra money, it might be a good idea to start saving your cans and bottles and even paper. Hey its like getting paid for throwing your trash out, but you have to organize the trash. Thats not bad at all. And I forgot to mention, you will also be conserving resources and all that good stuff, but I think that the most important word to me and you is that money word, you know the word that's symbol looks like this $$$$$$$

Ball point Pens

Well, I was curious and I wanted to see how long a ball point pen lasts on average. I could not find that , but I was able to find the history of ball point pens. An invention by no one other than a journalist. The article that I found said that he wanted to make a pen that you do not have to fill like the pen that he had to use. He also noticed that the ink used in newspapers is fast drying and he could use that in his pen.

I just thought it was interesting

Tape Sculptures

I haven't found much, but I was looking for something interesting, so I typed in graphiti (please excuse spelling) and I found all sorts of things that are cool. Among the coolest, tape sculptures. You won't believe how good this guy is at making these tape sculptures. The coolest part of all is that he leaves them out in the street in D.C. for everyone to look at. This guy's name is Mark Jenkins.

If you want to make your own, he has a tutorial at:

Birds

Well, I was thinking, two sports teams that are from Louisville are named the Cardinals. Well, that makes me conclude that the state bird of Kentucky is a Cardinal. Wouldn't you? Well, I did a quick google just to figure out if this is in fact true, and yes it is.

The Cardinal was declared state bird of Kentucky on February 26, 1926. Basically because it is the native bird of Kentucky.

You can find a list of state birds at:

http://www.netstate.com/states/tables/st_birds.htm

Largest Baseball Bat

Right now my theme is record setting objects, that people know exist but sometimes doubt if it is true.

Well, if there is a world's largest ball of twine, there has got to be a World's largest baseball bat. Where is it you might ask? Well, when you think of a baseball bat, what brand do you think of?

If you said Louisville Slugger than you are correct!

The World's largest baseball bat is standing 120 feet tall leaning against the Louisville slugger museum/factory in Louisville Kentucky. But unfortunately, it is not made out of wood. It is made out of metal

World's Largest Ball of Twine

Many people have heard that there is a ball of twine somewhere on the side of the road that is huge from their friends. I wanted to see if that is true and where it is.

I looked it up of google and i found out about it. There are three mabye more twine balls that are the considered the world's Largest. The first result on google was one in Cawker Kansas and another in Darvin Minnesota. the other one was made by a man in four years which I will get to later. Here is a little backround on the twine balls.

Francis Jhonson of Darvin Minnesota started this collossal ball of twine in 1950. He had it at his home and it was an attraction until he died in 1985. Another man by the Name of Frank Stoeber of Cawker City Kansas started one in 1953. His ball was smaller than Jhonson's ball, but people added on to it. The other ball was made by J.C. Payne of Valley View of Texas in 1985. H decided that he wanted to set the world record, and he did. He started his winding in 1987 and finished four years later. I could not find how tall the tallest one is now on Guinness world records .com, but I am sure that J.C's is the tallest.

I found a great website about this. The URL is:

http://www.thom.org/gallery/set/twine.html

the image shown above is of the one in Cawker Kansas. The better known one. Click on the Question Mark to view the image and another website about it.

Welcome to IOG

Have you ever been sitting at the couch or the dinner table and thought of something really random like when was salad dressing invented? You are not alone. I was sitting at the dinner table and thought of some of those things to look up. Then I thought about making a blog that will cover pretty much the most diverse topics from the history of salad dressing to Where the world's largest ball of twine is.

You too can join me in this ongoing project. Leave comments if you'd like to tell me how I am doing with my blog. I would really appreciate that.

That was really not much of an introduction, but it is good enough.

Just so you know- everything that I will look up to put on this blog is one of the search results from www.google.com

At the end of each post I will put the URL at the bottom of where I got it from. Or I will put a link on the side if I can figure out how to do that.

Well that is all that I have to say other than welcome to IOG.
